Golden Gate Mornings (October, 2014)

10/01/14 0557 to 0619 So it begins, October. The summer for the Bay Area... and, true to form, it is going to be a hot one this rest of the week/weekend. In fact, this morning, it was already warmer at the vista point... enough so that i received a half dozen mosquito bites whilst photographing a beautiful clear bay before me... so be it, if that is what the cost of photography is...

10/03/14 6020 ugh... woke up a full hour late today... bone tired... mentally and physically. Struggling over a life/career choice decision. Think i am making the right one, but should the right decision make me feel so gods damned guilty? Sorry for the lack of 10/02/14... i simply need to learn how to say "no" more often. Agreed, as a favor, to retrieve a visitor from Mountain View and drive him into work... then, at the end of the work day, drive him back home. It was a long day. Nice fellow, great conversation, but nevertheless, a long ass day... Warm breezes greeted me at the bridge today... the radio clattered on with "triple digit temperatures today! blah blah blah"... its going to be toasty...

10/06/14 0655 So it begins, another week... after a hot hot hot weekend, it is nice to feel the temperatures come down to almost normal. Of course, in these times of dramatic temperature changes, the fog, that beautiful fog, comes rolling in. This morning was no different.

10/07/14 0600 The fog is already rolling in... and it casts everything into the dark, even though a bright full moon shines above... Couldn't stay at the bridge overly long today... on a temporal short leash... but at least i got some mood in the photos...

10/08/14 0556 to 0612 Fog fog fog! me thinks another weather change is coming! Well, that and the fact that, in a year where there are two total lunar eclipses, i caught all of none of it on film/computer... well, not all true... i caught the very tail end of it... anyhow... the post eclipse moon was so bright and beautiful i couldn't help but shoot the northern approach to the bridge in moon light also... but, here is the typical vantage...

10/09/14 0548 to 0556 Arrived at the vista point to the sound of fog horns calling and answering. There was a ship heading out of the gate (the string of lights in the earlier photos... due to the long exposure time, it looks like two ships, one after the other... sadly, it is just the ship moving along down its route). It was rather relaxing and comforting... the low and solemn fog horn... one calls, one answers... a bit like life really, futzing around in the dark and the fog...

 and, the moon continues to be absolutely gorgeous... so i was tempted...

10/13/14 0642 to 0656 Happy Monday... though i must admit, hard to roll out of bed this morning... after sushi and sake with daughter Kim at Kusakabe... great meal... great drink... late  hours... and the Giants lost... sigh... but, happy Monday

10/15/14 0554 to 0613 A little drizzle... a bit of wetness... the Giants take game three but today, game four, should be a tad moist... but, clear morning on the bridge, so all is good!

10/16/14 0604 to 0619 Quite a good morning for photos... and quite a bit of dust kicked up by the construction near the Golden Gate Bridge... the approach to the bridge... it is that lit plum of "fog" that you see left of the bridge... you can usually see the very bright lights in the previous photos... but today... wow! were they kicking up some dust!

10/17/14 0603 to 0620 The Giants goes to play in the World Series... and Jenn's birthday!!! Happy day 8)

10/21/14 0542 to 0554 This past weekend was the Nike Women's Half Marathon, which Jenn participated in and is currently hurting from... ahhhh... endurance sports...

10/22/14 0544 to  0557 Another beautifully clear day... look close, one can see the city lights reflected on the water of the bay... it did occur to me today... however... to wonder what exactly that moon like looking sliver of light was  yesterday... i don't recall the moon being over there before... huh

10/23/14 0550 to 0607 Can't complain about a beautiful morning... can complain about the Giants' loss last night though 8(

10/24/14 Game 3 of the World Series... at AT&T Park... tonight... GO GIANTS!!! and... quite nice photos of the bay as well... first shot show three ships a sailing... second and third shot caught a group of cyclists departing (see at least one of them a lot... i don't know if he leads a group or it is the same group everytime...)

10/27/14 0658 to  0702 Giants win Game 5 last night... 5 to 0... leads the series 3 to 2... back to Kansas City to finish the play off s now... game 6 on Tuesday... fingers crossed... 

10/28/14 0604 to 0622 Game 6 tonight... do or die time for KC Royals... and boy... it would be so nice if Peavy and the Giants can sew it up tonight and not have it go the full 7... fingers crossed... This morning there were three fellows also shooting form the vista point. Tripods of various quality and size... time lapse and waiting for the sunrise... i hope they get their shot!

10/29/14 0603 to 0612 Group meeting time!!! Joined at vista point by a gaggle of loud Vietnamese tourists... felt bad about the folks in the camper right next to them... i'd imagine they were awoken by the chattering

10/30/14 0558 The Giants wins the World Series... Madison Bumgarner makes history in multiple ways... youth and alcohol rears its ugly head in post game celebrations in SF... one bad apple ruins the bushel, as they say... sigh... Congrats Giants... 3 World Series Championships in 5 years... wow...
